Description:

As state and federal policies change and new business models emerge, local governments find themselves grappling with how best to manage several new sectors of their local economy. Companies in the sharing economy such as Uber and Airbnb, cash only businesses such as legalized cannabis distributors, as well as online businesses all present new challenges for local government treasury departments in terms of tax collection policy. This session will include case studies outlining what other governments have done to address these challenges and explore what the outlook is going forward.
