Transparency is a goal for many governments; however, identifying the proper data to share can be a challenge. Putting that data in context to provide useful information rather than simply dumping data can also be difficult. Poorly focused transparency efforts can lead to goal displacement because citizens tend to focus on what’s published or easily measured rather than what’s most important. This session will go beyond the topic of transparency by addressing what information should be shared, how to best share it, and placing data into context.
