Most defined benefit pension portfolios include either a dedicated allocation to natural resources and/or energy investments or gain exposure through individual security selection made by underlying managers. 2016 was another banner year for crude oil headlines with wide fluctuations in crude oil futures and production. In 2017, scrutiny over accounting practices and reductions in payments to oilfield services companies has raised questions about profitability. This session will bring together energy investors, investment consultants and defined benefit plan investors to discuss how they view the oil and gas and broader energy markets from a long-term investment perspective.
