The State of Nevada Controller's Office is seeking an Accountant 1 (CAFR) that will be involved in the highest level of financial reporting to produce the State's Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR), which is audited by an independent public accounting firm and submitted to the Government Finance Officer's Association (GFOA). The CAFR is essential for obtaining bond ratings and is required for the Single Audit Report. The incumbent will be part of a team that implements and determines compliance with Governmental GAAP; ensures proper recording of transactions including capital assets and depreciation, transfers, grants, leases, and others; assists State agencies with accounting issues and document processing; approves agency accounting documents in the State's automated financial system; and provides training to agencies on the State's automated financial system. The successful incumbent will possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently, and will be proficient in performing research and developing professional opinions and conclusions.
Minimum qualifications: a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, business administration, finance or related field which included 18 credits in accounting and four years of professional accounting experience, three years of which were in governmental or fund accounting and included the preparation of comprehensive financial reports (CAFR's); or certification as a Certified Public Accountant and two years of experience in governmental or fund accounting which included the preparation of CAFR's.
