The City of East Lansing is seeking a new Finance Director. East Lansing is a desirable residential community of 48,500 people and home to Michigan State University. East Lansing operates under the Council-Manager form of government with a full-time staff of 301 and a FY2017 combined budget of $83.6 million. The Director is responsible for planning, directing, managing and overseeing the activities and operations of the Finance Department through an administrative capacity as the Chief Financial Officer, Budget Officer and Risk Manager. This position reports directly to the City Manager and provides highly responsible and complex administrative support to the City Manager. The Finance Department has 15 FTE employees including four professional managers. The Director must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, Accounting or related; eight years of responsible experience in fiscal services and four years of administrative and supervisory experience. Master’s Degree in a related field is preferred. Registration or eligibility for registration as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Michigan is preferred.
