Job Description: 

The Assistant Director of Finance assists in the leadership and management of the City’s award winning Finance Department. The Department has received the Government Finance Officers Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (39 years) and the Distinguished Budget Presentation award (8 years).

This position provides direct oversight over the Accounting Division, administrative oversight of the Workforce Development accounting staff and Print Shop, and secondary oversight to Budget and Evaluation, Administration, Licensing and Purchasing.

This exciting position directs the City’s annual audit and the development of the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report, implements new accounting standards and best practices, supervises and participates in the development and implementation of departmental policy, and assists in the evaluation and implementation of internal controls throughout the City.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field, plus four years of experience in the field of accounting or financial management of which at least two years have been in a responsible supervisory capacity. A master's degree in a related area is highly desirable and may be substituted for one year of the required work experience. Experience in government accounting is preferred, but not required Certified Public Accountant is required and must be obtained within two years of assignment.
