Stafford County, Virginia, with a diverse population of 145,000, is strategically located on the Interstate 95 Corridor just 25 miles south of the Washington, DC Beltway and 50 miles north of Richmond, invites résumés and applications for the position of Central Purchasing Division Administrator.
The County of Stafford operates under the traditional Board-Administrator form of government where the seven-member Board appoints the County Administrator. The County’s FY18 adopted budget includes funding for 911 FTEs and has an overall operating and capital budget of $561 million. Under the supervision of the Director of Finance, the Central Purchasing Division Administrator is responsible for planning, coordinating, directing and managing the County’s contract and procurement programs while developing and supervising subordinate staff engaged in the purchase of services, supplies facilities and road construction. The Purchasing Administrator is also responsible for presenting recommended changes and updates of the Stafford County Purchasing Regulations to the County Administrator for adoption and enforcement of those regulations.
Requirements include any combination of education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree in public or business administration, marketing, contract management, procurement, or a related field, 3-5 years’ experience in procurement on an administrative level for a public or government organization, and 2-3 years managerial level experience. Candidates must possess a professional certification from a state or national organization of procurement professionals, such as NIGP, NCMA, VCO, CPPO, or CPPB.
The starting salary range is $82,305-$99,507 and is negotiable based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
