Mike Mucha joined GFOA in 2006 and is now Acting Director of the Research and Consulting Center. Mike’s consulting focuses on providing guidance to local governments on how to use technology more effectively to improve business processes and administrative practices. He is heavily involved in GFOA’s efforts to help governments with system assessment, procurement, selection, and implementation. Mike also oversees GFOA's organizational assessment projects and leads contract negotiations for all GFOA clients . Mike has conducted projects for both large and small governments, regularly speaks at GFOA training events, and has written numerous articles on public sector enterprise technology applications, project management, and process improvement. Some recent clients included Pasco County Schools (FL), City of Spokane (WA), City of Hayward (CA), Sonoma County (CA), Yolo County (CA), Douglas County (KS), the City of Chaska (MN) and Bernalillo County (NM) among others. Mike also leads GFOA’s efforts to promote best practices in performance management, budgeting, capital planning, and cost benefit analysis/fiscal impact analysis and is the staff liaison to GFOA's Capital Planning and Economic Development Committee.
