On May 23, 2017, during Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) 111th Annual Conference at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado, GFOA’s new President and Director of Finance of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (NY), Patrick J. McCoy, will unveil his 2017–2018 initiative focusing on our nation’s infrastructure and the municipal bonds that build it. As leaders in Washington, DC, continue to search for ways to address our aging infrastructure, more than 4,500 local leaders from GFOA will gather at the Annual Conference to discuss the tools available to finance public infrastructure projects such as schools, hospitals, roads and bridges, and water systems. President McCoy will unveil the initiative during a discussion among leading public finance officers on the impact of municipal bonds on local communities and the projects they finance.
