Speaker Portal

Welcome to the GFOA Speaker Portal.  GFOA welcomes all who are interested in speaking at GFOA events.  Our events include:  National Training On-Site Courses; National Training Webinars; and GFOA National Conference.  If you are interested in becoming a GFOA National Speaker, please use this portal to apply to become a speaker; review our speaker reimbursement policies; and to download our standard presentation templates.   Please note that, as an objective organization, GFOA will not approve speakers or topics that are intended to promote commercial products or services.

Speaker Application

To be considered as a speaker for GFOA, please be prepared to describe yourself, your background, relevant expertise, and other qualifying experience you may have on our online speaker application form.  If possible, please include a link to any videos or audio of you presenting before a live audience in your application.  Once approved, potential speakers will be contacted by GFOA staff when speaking opportunities arise.   When contacted, GFOA staff will confirm knowledge of topic and speaker availability.  GFOA typically uses a team training approach where multiple speakers are used for each speaking opportunity.  A second conference call will be arranged to meet the other speakers assigned to the engagement and to coordinate the presentations.

Speaker Presentation

GFOA uses a standard PowerPoint template for its National Training Presentations and National Conference Presentations.  The GFOA coordinator will provide the template.

Expense Reimbursement Policy

GFOA speakers are typically volunteers; however, GFOA provides travel and accommodations for GFOA National Trainers that must travel to a GFOA National Training site. (Please note:  This excludes speakers at GFOA National Conference, which follows a separate policy established for each conference.)  If you are a National Trainer that has been assigned to a National Training Session, please download GFOA's travel and expense policy and reimbursement form.
