Analysts and finance professionals who are responsible for qualitative and quantitative analysis for their organizations.
This course is separated into three topical areas: revenues, expenses, and economic development. Instructors will discuss how to approach analyzing these different areas and will use class/group exercises to reinforce the discussion and to encourage student participation. Instructors will also provide an overview of qualitative and quantitative data, sources of relevant information, and techniques to prepare for analysis. Students are asked to bring their own laptop computers for the class exercises.
Please note that this course will feature example exercises to be completed in Excel. Participants are asked to bring their laptops or tablets in order to work through the examples.
- Identify internal and external sources of information for data analysis and how they can be made relevant to smaller geographies
- Learn Excel techniques for preparing data for analysis
- Gain an understanding of different methods for analyzing revenue, expenses, and economic development
- Apply the methods discussed to various scenarios through course exercises
