This class is designed for budget officers, budget analysts, and other finance officers tasked with analyzing and developing user fees.
This course provides a how-to guide to establishing appropriately sized charges and fees for government services. The content will focus on adopting policies that determine the public and individual contributions for public services, calculating the full cost of the target service, and communicating the justification for the fee. The instructors will facilitate participants through a discussion about how they have been able to right size fees and charges at their organizations, the challenges they have encountered, and the solutions they might employ. Attendees will leave the course with examples of policies, calculation parameters for service costs, and review processes to update charges based on different approaches.
