Job Description: 

The Treasurer is a key member of the City of Portland team who manages the Treasury Division of the City (10 total staff). Responsibilities include management of all City investments, management of municipal tax billing and collections (including property and excise), management of City cash flows and collection of accounts receivable. Exceptional customer service skills are required for this role as dozens of customers visit the Treasury office and hundreds interact with the Division online on a daily basis. A focus on efficiency, innovation and technology to continue to improve customer service and processes is required. This position also requires a focus on sound cash management practice, the ability to motivate and support staff, as well as strong communication and organizational skills. The Treasurer supports all City and School departments in various cash handling, receivable and depository functions. Successful candidate will have both academic and job experience backgrounds that demonstrate success in managing similar operations. Candidates without municipal tax collection certification will be required to obtain certification within six months. Candidates must be bondable and are subject to criminal background and credit check. Starting salary range is $83,012 to $99,118 per year depending on experience. Non-Union – Grade D62
