Sonia Bridges is the Division Director for Risk Management & Benefits for the City of Miami Beach where she has been employed since 2012. Her 30+ years of experience in the field of Risk Management came mostly from Miami-Dade County. Fifteen of those years were in the capacity of Airport Risk Manager for Miami International Airport and its four auxiliary airports. Sonia is experienced with purchasing and managing most lines of coverage, as well as managing huge self-insured retentions. She believes that she truly became a risk management professional after Hurricane Andrew where she worked with multiple agencies, including FEMA, county departments and insurance carriers and became the guru in disaster recovery. It was at that point that Sonia decided she was in the right career. Sonia has been a member of Public Risk Insurance Management Association (PRIMA) for over 20 years. She is also an active member of Risk & Insurance Management Society (RIMS) and a Executive Board Director of the Greater Miami Chapter. In 2016, Sonia was featured in the Insurance Business America magazine as a Specialist Risk Manager. In 2018, In Sonia is a native of Miami and enjoys the warm weather, beaches, traveling and spending time with family.
