Job Description
MAJOR DUTIES:
- Prepares monthly bank account reconciliations; monitors and resolves bank issues.
- Receives, receives, and maintains spreadsheets for cash collection batch reports for use in the bank reconciliation process.
- Administers accounts receivable.
- Manages the fleet fuel card system.
- Assists with accounts payable processes.
- Prepares journal entries.
- Compiles and analyzes financial data and prepares related reports; prepares analysis of accounts as requested.
- Assists with the preparation for and coordination of the audit process; assists with year-end closings.
- Tracks and manages assets in the software system.
- Assists with budget preparations and forecasts.
- Reviews deposits for accuracy in the absence of the Business Services Manager.
- Disburses petty cash and provides change for Customer Service Representatives.
- Performs related duties.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines.
- Knowledge of auditing principles.
- Knowledge of relevant federal and state laws, town ordinances, and department policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of IRS guidelines.
- Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.
- Skill in problem solving.
- Skill in prioritizing and planning.
- Skill in interpersonal relations.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table.
- The work is typically performed in an office.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.
- Or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
