Ann Shawver, CPA
Ann Shawver served the City of Roanoke from 1994 through 2014, most recently as its Director of Finance, a position she held for the past six years. There she was responsible for accounting and financial reporting, debt management, oversight of retirement benefit plans and real estate assessments. Ann is an adjunct faculty member of Radford University, serving as an Instructor in the College of Accounting, Finance and Business Law. She has written articles for Government Finance Review and also served as an instructor for a variety of courses for the GFOA, VGFOA, and other organizations. Prior to joining the City of Roanoke, Ann was employed by KPMG for four years.
Ann holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from James Madison University and a master’s in Business Administration from Virginia Tech. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the AICPA and the Virginia Society of CPAs. She also holds the Virginia Government Finance Officers’ Certificate. She is a Past President of the Virginia GFOA and the Roanoke Chapter of the VSCPA. She is a member of GFOA’s Committee on Economic Development and Capital Planning.
