Between her undergraduate and graduate degrees, Barbara worked in food service as a short order cook, caterer and baker. After completing her MBA, she worked in tax and healthcare financial management. She gained not-for-profit experience with the Dallas Chapter of the American Red Cross and finally found her calling in government finance working for the City of Corinth, Texas. Barbara is a Certified Treasury Professional, and currently serves as a member of the GFOA Committee on Retirement and Benefits Administration.
Barbara and her family moved to Asheville from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Barbara's wife, Lisa Lemons, works in non-profit management and their son, Louis, is a culinary student. The threesome enjoy comic books, comic conventions, sci-fi conventions and all things nerdy. Between conventions they tube on the French Broad River and play with their six dogs.
