Karen Spence

Karen Spence has worked with Arlington County, Virginia since 2020, first as Assistant Comptroller and then Comptroller. She has over 25 years of financial experience leading in federal, state and local government. She has served GFOA as a committee member of CORBA for the last three years, an ACFR judge and PAFR judge. She is a Certified Public Accountant, Chartered Global Management Accountant, Public Policy Executive certificate applicant of Harvard Kennedy Business School, Certificate of Achievement in Public Plan Policy, and past board member and chairperson of Alexandria City Pension and Vienna Pension, respectively.
