Matt Gierach is Debt Manager for the City of Portland and oversees a team managing the City’s $3.1B debt portfolio, including governmental activities borrowings, water system revenue bonds, sewer system revenue bonds, and urban renewal area debt. Matt has 15 years of experience in finance and accounting, including ten years in public finance focused on municipal financings, including public bond issuances and private placements. Prior to joining the City of Portland, Matt worked as a public finance banker and municipal advisor at D.A. Davidson serving Oregon local governments and on the public finance banking team at Mesirow Financial in Chicago providing transaction execution and quantitative analysis for large municipal bond issuers across the U.S. Matt holds a M.B.A. in finance and B.S. in Accounting from DePaul University in Chicago.
