WPFN Member Spotlight: Maggie Lam

This month we're highlighting WPFN Member Maggie Lam, accounting manager for the City of Avondale, Arizona.

What Leadership style to do you find to be most successful and why?

I find the type of leadership style that recognizes achievement, provides constructive feedback, and prioritizes the growth and development of the team based on individual needs to be most successful. I think this is an effective way to boost team morale and creates a more engaged and motivated team.    

What is a challenge that you had in your career and how did you overcome it?
Having self-doubt was one of the challenges that I had in my career. I would doubt my skills and abilities and fear judgement. In order to overcome this challenge, I am learning to build a healthier self-image and remind myself that challenges and setbacks are opportunities to grow and learn.

What are your favorite ways to relieve stress and/or decompress?
Food is one of my favorite ways to relieve stress. I like exploring different cuisines and trying new restaurants in town.  It is a reminder for myself to slow down, indulge my senses, and enjoy the present moment.
