Christa is the manager of the Financial Justice Project, a first-of-its kind effort to assess and reform how fines and fees impact low-income people. Housed in the Treasurer & Tax Collector’s Office, the Financial Justice Project convenes community groups and city and county departments to take a deeper look at financial penalties, ranging from parking tickets, to criminal justice fines and fees, to tickets issued to individuals struggling with homelessness. Prior to her work with the City, Christa worked for United Way of the Bay Area as the Director of the SparkPoint Initiative, a program that brings together over 80 nonprofit and government programs to serve low-income women and families, and has served over 20,000 people to date. Christa has served on the FEMA Emergency Food and Shelter boards in Solano and Marin Counties, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of San Francisco, and a Master’s degree from the Goldman School of Public Policy.
