Communities across the US are struggling to build trust, engage residents, and ensure that their development investments benefit the residents who live in the impacted neighborhood. Through the example of Tulsa’s Kirkpatrick Heights-Greenwood district (Black Wall Street), attendees will learn how government, nonprofits, community organizations and residents came together to transform the typical development process and create a model of long-term community ownership that ensures Black Tulsans, including descendants of the massacre, benefit as the vision of new housing, retail, community spaces and infrastructure becomes reality.
This event is free for GFOA Black Caucus members.
