Where and what are you currently studying, and why did you choose this?
I am currently studying for a master's in accountancy at California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. My academic journey began with a bachelor's in business administration with a concentration in Accounting from the University of California, Riverside. I chose this path because of my deep commitment to a career in state and local government, particularly within the realm of accounting and finance. This choice perfectly blends my academic background with my desire to serve the public sector.
What government are you working in or hope to work at in the future?
My goal is to continue growing within local government, in my current role, and expanding my impact on the community. I aim to contribute my skills in governmental accounting and financial management to enhance the efficiency and transparency of financial processes. In the long term, I aspire to take on leadership roles within local government. My objective is to navigate the complexities of government finance, contributing meaningfully to the development and execution of budgets that align with community needs and priorities.
What are your future career goals?
My future career aspirations revolve around obtaining a Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) and obtaining my CPA (Certified Public Accountant) certification. This educational path is tailored to enhance my knowledge in accounting and finance, ensuring I grasp the intricate financial dynamics essential for adept administration within local governments. Furthermore, acquiring the CPA certification will elevate my professional stature and competence in governmental financial management, furthering my dedication to public sector service.
