Melanie Keeton

Melanie has been an essential leader in the City of San Antonio's financial operations since 2007, driving improvements in financial reporting and accountability. Under her guidance, the city reduced external audit findings from twenty-two in 2008 to zero since 2018. As Deputy Chief Financial Officer Troy Elliott for the City of San Antonio remarks, "Melanie embodies the qualities of an exceptional leader who can strategically drive results and is a committed public servant." She served on GFOA's Accounting, Auditing, and Financial Reporting Committee for nine years, including three years as chair and three years as vice chair, and contributed to GASB Statement No. 87 on Leases as part of a GASB Task Force. In addition, she served as a mentor in San Antonio’s Women’s Leadership Mentorship Program for four years. Beyond her technical expertise, Melanie fosters professional growth, mentors emerging leaders, and promotes diversity and inclusion within her team.
