Rex Gaither

Rex has dedicated more than thirty years to the Town of Smyrna, serving as finance director for the past fourteen years. Under his leadership, the town secured a triple A credit rating, ensuring the Town's legacy pension plan will be fully funded, and reduced general debt. Rex strengthened the town’s financial position, leaving Smyrna with stronger reserves, and revitalized the water/sewer fund while fostering collaboration across departments. Known for his integrity and commitment to providing accurate, timely financial information, Rex has guided the town through major capital projects, including a new fire station, expanded infrastructure, and the development of Cedar Stone Park. As Finance Manager Sierra Lowry notes, “Rex is the ultimate civil servant. His legacy will impact Smyrna citizens for generations to come.”
