Ahmed Abonamah

Ahmed is the Chief Financial Officer and Director of the Department of Finance for the City of Cleveland. Prior to joining the City of Cleveland, Ahmed spent over six years at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Ahmed served in a variety of leadership roles at the SEC, including as Director of the Office of Credit Ratings and as Deputy Director of the Office of Municipal Securities. Prior to joining the SEC, Ahmed worked as a public finance attorney at Squire Patton Boggs (US) LLP where he served as bond counsel, underwriter’s counsel, and disclosure counsel on a wide variety of public finance transactions. Ahmed received his B.A. in political science from the University of Dayton, and earned his J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law.
