Erika Coombs

Erika Coombs joined Piper Sandler & Co. in 2021 and has over two decades of experience. She provides underwriting, financial advisory and placement agent services to municipal governments in the Rocky Mountain region. She has worked with a wide variety of credit types and municipal bond transactions. She has a vast amount of experience in Arizona, assisting with more than 100 bond and override elections and more than 250 financings.
Coombs is genuinely committed to the public finance community, and making time to advocate for women in leadership positions is important to her. She is a board member of National Federation of Municipal Analysts MARMOT Chapter and is an active member of the programming committee for GFOA Women in Public Finance Network (WPFN) and the GFOA Committee on Economic Development and Capital Planning. She is a past board member of Women in Public Finance (WPF), Arizona’s Women Leading Government (WLG) and past president of the Mountain Region Chapter WPF. She was the co-chair of the 2022 WPF and Arizona WLG conferences. She is a graduate of Valley Leadership Institute Class 38 and Scottsdale Leadership Class 32.
Coombs is a graduate of the Barrett Honors College at Arizona State University with a bachelor’s degree. She also holds a master’s degree in public administration from Arizona State University. She is a fifth-generation Arizona native, an identical twin, foster mom and her favorite person calls her “Mama.” She holds Series 7, 50, 52 and 63 securities licenses.
