Darrel Thomas

Darrel graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance from Florida Atlantic University and holds a Master’s of Science in Finance with a concentration in financial risk management from Florida International University. He is a currently a member of the Florida League of Cities Investment Advisory Committee and the Florida League of Cities Legislative Policy Committee on Finance, Taxation & Personnel. He is a past member of the GFOA Treasury & Investment Management Committee, a past member of the GFOA Ad Hoc Committee of Financial Transparency, a past Board Member of the FGFOA and a past president of the South Florida Chapter of the FGFOA.

Darrel has been working with the City of Weston since 2006 and is currently the City’s Assistant City Manager/Chief Financial Officer. His responsibilities vary from investment and risk management; oversight of accounting and budget; and oversight of other departmental functions.
