Shifra Goldenberg

Shifra Goldenberg is the Chief Programs Officer of Work for America, a nonpartisan, nonprofit initiative working to make public service a more desirable, accessible, and stable career path that uplifts families, communities and our country.

Shifra Goldenberg has over ten years of experience designing, leading, and evaluating public policy and programs with New York City. Shifra’s previous roles include Senior Policy Advisor for the Mayor’s Office of Operations and Director for NYC Health + Hospitals’ Office of Ambulatory Care and Population Health.

Shifra has led large programs across policy areas including health care delivery; benefits access; homelessness; civic engagement; and education. For example, she led the Street Health Outreach and Wellness (SHOW) program, which was a finalist for Fast Company’s 22 World-Changing Ideas award in the Health Care category. Shifra was also the lead for the launch of New York City’s 24/7 COVID-19 vaccination sites, including the largest City-run vaccination site at Citi Field. Prior to joining CIty government, Shifra worked on strategic communications at New York University. Shifra holds an MPA from New York University and a BA from Columbia, and is a graduate of the Coro Leadership New York (LNY) Program.
