Steve Kennedy

Mr. Kennedy was appointed as the GCS City Manager on October 1, 2018. He has worked in municipal government operations for over 45 years, including the City of Thomasville, GA, the City of Cartersville, GA, the City of Kennesaw, GA, City of Americus, GA, and the last almost 6 years as the City Manager here in Green Cove Springs. He received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in finance and accounting from Valdosta State University in 1975.

Mr. Kennedy serves as a board member of the Northeast Florida Regional Council, serves on Florida League of Cities Legislative Committee, and a member of the Florida City County Managers Association’s Professional Development Committee.

Mr. Kennedy and his wife, Cheryl, reside here in GCS and have already made this their retirement home. They have 2 sons and three grandchildren. Mr. Kennedy enjoys golfing, hunting, college football, and spending time outdoors.
