Mehdi Riazi

Mehdi is a Vice President and Consulting Actuary, affiliated with Segal’s West Region. He specializes in performing retiree healthcare valuations for governments of all sizes and has nearly 20 years of experience in the actuarial consulting industry.

Prior to joining Segal in 2022, Mehdi was a Senior Consultant with Gabriel, Roeder, Smith & Company (GRS). At GRS, he managed the Dallas office’s other postemployment benefits (OPEB) business and chaired the firm’s OPEB committee. He currently manages the Retiree Health Team for Segal’s West Region and serves as the lead OPEB actuary for most of the West Region’s public sector clients. Over his career, he has served as the lead OPEB actuary for six statewide retiree healthcare plans.

Mehdi received an MA and a BA in Mathematics from the University of Kansas (Lawrence, KS). He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary.
