Dr. Darren Morton

Dr. Darren Morton is the Comptroller of the City of Mount Vernon. Comptroller Morton has 25 years of education, non-profit, and public service leadership experience in various social action areas. He has been with the City of Mount Vernon since 2012, serving the city as Commissioner of Recreation, Commissioner of Planning and Community Development and Chief of Staff for Mayor Shawyn Patterson Howard. He was elected to the office of City Comptroller in January 2022. Dr. Morton serves as Treasurer of the Mount Vernon Industrial Development Agency (IDA), and has served as Treasurer of the Mount Vernon Urban Renewal Agency (URA), Finance Chair for the Mount Vernon Public Library Board of Directors.
