William Pierre-Louis
Policy Associate
Willam Pierre-Louis, Jr. is the Federal Policy Associate at the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA), where he helps develop federal policy documents and contributes to policy-related education for public finance government officials, ensuring state government officials have the necessary federal tools and resources to navigate complex policy challenges and better serve their constituents.
Prior to joining GFOA, William most recently worked for the Hip Hop Caucus, where he developed and executed policies advocating for comprehensive financial regulations to promote economic justice. He aligned the goals of the Bank Black Green campaign with systemic reforms and engaged policymakers to advance legislation benefiting Black and brown communities. His efforts emphasized shifting capital toward regenerative economies and equitable financial practices.
William also previously worked for Americans for Financial Reform (AFR), where he collaborated with coalition partners to develop policy proposals advocating for stronger financial regulations in collaboration with several federal financial regulatory agencies—including the Financial Stability Oversight Council (FSOC), Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) and Security Exchange and Commission (SEC) to strengthen oversight and accountability for both traditional banking institutions and fintech companies while protecting consumers’ rights.
William holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Notre-Dame University of Haiti, a Certificate in American Government from HarvardX of Harvard University, Certificate in Public Policy, Finance from the Wharton School of Pennsylvania University, and he is currently finishing a Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration at Southern New Hampshire University.
