Kat Sorensen
City Manager, City of Seward, Alaska
Kat Sorensen is the city manager of Seward, a small town in coastal Alaska that has a diverse economy thanks to it's working port and beautiful landscape that encourages economic growth through tourism, fishing, and vessel maintenance, among many other industries. The city of Seward currently has about 100 employees across over 10 departments, including a locally owned electric utility.
Prior to becoming city manager, Kat worked as the Seward Chamber of Commerce executive director, manager at several tourism based businesses, a local news reporter, and a fishmonger. She also holds a Masters' in Public Administration from University of Alaska Southeast, as well as a Bachelor's from Boston University. Originally from Asbury Park, New Jersey, she has called Alaska home for seven years.
