Robert Valenzuela

Robert is a respected, multifaceted local government leader with over 25 years of service marked by transparency, inclusivity, and innovation. Starting as Assistant City Engineer for the City of Sugar Land in 2009, he progressed to roles like Director of Public Works and Executive Director of Public & Neighborhood Services, finally becoming Assistant City Manager in 2023. His oversight extends to departments like Engineering, Communications, Finance, Municipal Courts, Animal Services and Parks and Recreation. Robert's background includes a civil engineering degree from Texas A&M University, with professional licenses and affiliations, including ICMA and TCMA membership and leadership roles. Robert recently completed the Senior Executives in State and Local Government, Executive Education program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Honored with awards like Top Public Works Leader of the year for Texas in 2021, Robert's commitment to service extends to his personal life, where he enjoys a long-standing marriage and supports his daughter's activities.
