Lisa Washburn

Lisa is a managing director and the chief credit officer at Municipal Market Analytics (MMA), an independent research and consulting group that publishes data, analysis, and commentary on the US municipal bond market. MMA subscribers include institutional investors, underwriters, bond issuers, regulators, and think tanks. Lisa is often quoted in the media on credit issues affecting municipal bond market issuers.

Along with MMA partner Matt Fabian, Lisa authors the weekly OUTLOOK report, which covers credit and market structure trends and federal policy and regulatory developments. Matt and Lisa also write the weekly DEFAULT TRENDS report, which tracks and analyzes troubled and defaulted municipal borrowers.

Prior to MMA, Lisa spent twenty years with Moody’s Investors Service, where she was a managing director in the public finance group and led several ratings teams. She served as chairperson of the National Federation of Municipal Analysts and currently is the organization’s representative on the Governmental Accounting Standards Advisory Council. A graduate of Lehigh University, Lisa is a Certified Management Accountant, a Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting credential holder, and earned the CFA’s Certificate in ESG Investing.
