Why did you want to become a CPFO?

I want to have all the tools available when an opportunity arises. The CPFO program was an opportunity for professional growth where I was exposed to topics outside of my day-to-day responsibilities.

What did you learn going through the process?

The program exposed me to a variety of topics I don’t encounter in my day-to-day work. I was able to dive into areas that I have not had the opportunity to gain practical experience at this point in my career.

How has becoming a CPFO made an impact on you in your profession or how do you hope it will make an impact?

This program prepared me to face challenges beyond those I’ve encountered in my career and made me a more well-rounded finance officer.

What would you say to others thinking about becoming a CPFO?

The CPFO designation demonstrates that someone has an understanding of the GFOA best practices and can apply those resources to real-world situations.
