CPFO Spotlight: Trisha Pollock
Trisha Pollock, CPFO, is assistant city manager/finance director for the City of Victoria, Minnesota.
1. Why did you want to become a CPFO?
In 2018, I took the role as the Finance Director in the City of Victoria. While I had been working for the city for several years prior, it was not in a leadership capacity. I wanted to learn as much as possible about governmental finance to succeed in my leadership role.
2. What did you learn going through the process?
I learned so many things that I immediately started using in my current role. The best practices are a valuable resource and having the opportunity to study each area and then test my knowledge gave me the confidence to do my job better.
3. How has becoming a CPFO made an impact on you in your profession?
It has given me the education that I needed to build a more effective, efficient, and transparent finance department for the City of Victoria.
4. What would you say to others thinking about becoming a CPFO?
Just do it! You won’t regret the hard work and dedication that it takes to complete the program. You will learn so much valuable information.
