1. Why did you want to become a CPFO?

In 2018, I took the role as the Finance Director in the City of Victoria.  While I had been working for the city for several years prior, it was not in a leadership capacity.  I wanted to learn as much as possible about governmental finance to succeed in my leadership role.

2. What did you learn going through the process?

I learned so many things that I immediately started using in my current role. The best practices are a valuable resource and having the opportunity to study each area and then test my knowledge gave me the confidence to do my job better.

3. How has becoming a CPFO made an impact on you in your profession?

It has given me the education that I needed to build a more effective, efficient, and transparent finance department for the City of Victoria.

4. What would you say to others thinking about becoming a CPFO?

Just do it!  You won’t regret the hard work and dedication that it takes to complete the program.  You will learn so much valuable information.
