Responsible for providing a large team of accounting and financial professionals the support they need to be successful. In addition to a strong managerial background, the Controller needs to be an expert in governmental financial accounting. Accountable for the planning, organizing and directing of all fiscal accounting. Direct all general accounting and cost accounting in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) pronouncements, and state and federal regulations. Safeguard all funds, moneys and assets of the Department and all financial records and reports. Compile and submit all federal financial reports and statements, including the Department's response to federal audit reports. Bachelor's degree with a major in Accounting from an accredited college or university; OR Bachelor's degree in a related field with a minimum of 24 semester hours in accounting courses OR previous relevant work experience. License as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by the state of Arizona is also preferred.
