The Chief Financial Officer will lead a fiscally sound local government operation with the triple-AAA bond rating since 2013 and 21 consecutive years of GFOA Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. This is a senior-level professional position in the County Executive form of government). The CFO will report directly to the County Executive and oversee day-to-day operations of multiple divisions of the Finance Department. In concert with the Interim Deputy Director of Finance and retiring CFO, the incoming incumbent will provide operational and financial leadership, advice, and consultation that will significantly impact the successful transition of the Finance Department and the County as a whole.
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree preferably in accounting, economics, business administration, finance or related field. Master's degree in public administration or business administration is preferred. Knowledge of the principles and practices of public administration, government accounting and financial reporting, property assessment and local taxation, purchasing, risk management, and payroll administration is essential. At least ten (10) years of progressively responsible related experience, to include supervisory or management experience preferably in a local government setting; Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Public Finance Officer (CPFO) designations are desired – OR – Any equivalent combination of education, experience and/or training sufficient to demonstrate the requisite depth and breadth of knowledge, skills, and abilities is acceptable.
Hiring Range: $139,288 -$170,000. Excellent benefits including vacation and sick leave, health insurance options, and Virginia Retirement System benefits. This is a full time, FLSA Exempt position.
