The Town of Burrillville is seeking an experienced Treasurer. The Treasurer reports directly to the Finance Director, and must work effectively with the Town Council, Department Heads, and representatives of other governmental jurisdictions, taxpayers, and staff. This position will be a transition position for one year training with the existing Treasurer and staff.
Key responsibilities include oversight, maintenance and integrity of accounting systems; coordinating financial transactions from procurement of assets to disbursement of funds; supervising and participating in preparation and maintenance of financial records, reports and statements; and developing and maintaining internal control policies under general supervision of the Finance Director. This professional will be involved with direct supervision of employees in the Treasurer Division. The person in this position will be working with confidential and sensitive issues related to Town finances and employees.
The position requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting and a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible municipal accounting. Experience in private sector accounting/financial management may be considered and evaluated in lieu of municipal experience.
