The controller position is responsible for the accounting operations of the entity, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or GASB standards.


  • Maintains and enforces a documented system of accounting policies and procedures
  • Manages outsourced functions
  • Oversees the operations of the accounting staff assigned to the SNCHC, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives
  • Oversees the management of overall accounting structure, including, but not limited to creating general ledger codes, project codes and cost allocation practices
  • Ensures that billing functions and patient accounts are managed according to best practices and SNCHC policy
  • Maintains the SNCHC chart of accounts
  • Maintains a system of controls over accounting transactions
  • Issues timely and complete monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
  • Recommends benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations
  • Calculates and analyzes financial, operating metrics and KPIs
  • Manages the production of the annual budget and forecasts
  • Calculates variances from the budget and reports significant issues to management
  • Provides for a system of management cost reports
  • Provides thorough financial analyses of entity operations
  • Assists with preparation and consolidation of annual District budget
  • Leads Finance staff and auditors with the preparation of annual Financial Reports in compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements
  • Assists in closing books at year end upon completion of annual audit
  • Performs related duties and responsibilities as required


  • Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting or a degree in business administration, finance, or a closely related field which included 18 semester credits in accounting


  • 7-10 years of progressively responsible supervisory/managerial experience performing professional accounting work with at least three years of lead or supervisory experience.
  • Experience setting up, managing, or auditing an FQHC is highly preferred
  • Experience must include preparation, supervision or audits of financial reporting, financial operations, revenue/expense analysis, cost allocation, grants administration, budget projections and internal control/risk assessment
  • Public agency experience is required
  • And advanced degree and/or CPA is desired
  • Working knowledge of the current GAAP and Uniform Guidance regulations
  • Proficiency In Microsoft office suite, with advanced skills in Excel
