Q & A with Audrey
Where and what are you currently studying and why did you choose this?
I am currently working on my Doctorate in Public Administration with a concentration in Geography and Planning. I have my Master’s degree in Public Administration as well. After completing my Master's degree, I took some courses in finance and data analysis. I then realized how much I missed researching and debating policy, so I decided to just go all the way in pursing my public administration education.
What government are you working or hoping to work at in the future?
I currently work in local government for the City of Allentown, Pennsylvania. I like local and state government because there is a strong connection to the community and opportunities to be involved professionally.
What are your future career goals?
I would like to continue gaining knowledge in government finance and local government, so I can use these skills to develop policies that address future challenges in public administration.
Which GFOA scholarship did you receive and how will GFOA’s scholarship help you achieve those goals?
I received the Government Finance Professional Development Scholarship. Committing to continuing your education as an adult takes a lot of sacrifice financially and personally. This scholarship is a huge relief for me and very encouraging.
