Overview:
Under general guidance, plans, organizes, and manages the activities of Accounting Operations, which includes accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.
This is an exempt position in Salary Grade T: Min $107,681.60 – Mid $129,251.20 – Max $150,800.00 annually. The starting salary will be within this range based on qualifications.

Responsibilities

Plans, assigns, and manages Accounting Operations activities in compliance with accepted accounting and financial management principles.
Interprets and makes recommendations involving accounting requirements. Ensures internal control procedures are being followed.
Participates in the enhancements of accounting policies and procedures.
Analyzes, reviews, and reconciles General Ledger accounts relating to accounts payable, payroll, accounts receivable, and other associated accounts. Prepares appropriate journal entries for adjustment and correction of accounting records.
Resolves inquires or issues regarding accounting reports and procedures, deposits, billings, payments, and payroll. Acts as liaison between the department and the various stakeholders.
Recommends and participates in the development of department goals, objectives, and policies
Manages the performance and development of staff, including recruiting, career development, discipline, and performance evaluation reviews. Serves as backup for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll function.
Ensures that external auditors are provided information necessary to conduct annual audit in areas of responsibility.
Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or closely related field with a minimum of six years of experience, such as, high level professional accounting experience in accounting operations and financial analysis, three years of which are in management.
Knowledge of:
- Agency organization, operations, policies, and objectives.
- Accounting principles, practices, and procedures (GAAP and GASB).
- Laws, regulations, and reporting requirements pertaining to government accounting.
- Principles and practices of management, training, and supervision.
- Principles, practices, and procedures of budgeting, forecasting, and auditing.
- Data processing and financial information systems.
- Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word.
Ability to:
- Organize, evaluate, and present complex financial data for management information.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly and concisely.
- Work with and handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Supervise staff. Provide training, work direction, and guidance to supervisors.
