"After graduating from Oregon State University, I had my eye on a career in audit. I saw a position open for a municipal auditor, which piqued my interest. After working a few years in the private sector auditing different types of municipalities, I knew I wanted to be on the other end of the audit. Ten years ago, I was hired as the senior accountant for the City of Dallas, Oregon, and after three years moved into the role as their assistant finance director. Part of the reason I chose a career in governmental finance was the sense of community, which is why when I saw the LGBTQIA+ Caucus forum, I was excited to join for the same sense of community. Working for a small rural city, there is not a large LGBTQIA+ community, which is why I am excited for the opportunity to connect and network within this new and exciting Caucus. I hope this Caucus brings positive change within GFOA, adds safe locations for future conferences, and will recognize the hard work we provide to communities across our country."
